TL;DR: The Dragon Quest Walk x Yoshinoya collaboration part 2 starts out much smoother for patrons but the campaign period is still shortened by a week.

Part 2 of the Dragon Quest Walk x Yoshinoya collaboration kicked off on time with a new selection of mystery mini figures for their special beef bowl sets. However there was a surprise this time too that at least came preemptively.

Once again the campaign did not set out as smoothly as initially intended. Right off the bat Yoshinoya posted a notice stating they would be cutting the campaign period in half from two weeks to just one. In addition they encouraged customers to only order one of the meals per person to ensure more people would have the opportunity to participate this time. It is a bit of a bold move in my opinion considering it means they could ultimately have less sales because of it but I appreciate how much they are attempting to avoid scalpers.

I enjoyed their posts trying to boost attention of the fun themed takeout option as well where your meal comes in a Slime bag and the bowls feature Slimes as well.

Someone even turned the bag into a full Slime decoration for their office desk after treating coworkers to beef bowls. What’s a better team lunch treat than a bunch of Slimes and beef bowls?

The Experience

My partner went on his lunch break on day one and was able to nab a meal! The Yoshinoya near his workplace wasn’t decorated so it meant less foot traffic for those looking to get collab meals. Also since it was in more of a business area chances were not too many other people would spend their precious lunch break time to run off for a beef bowl. The food was standard fair as was the service and while all in all it seemed like an expensive combo in reality it was roughly 250yen more to get the mystery mini figure. Considering the quality of the figures it was a steal really since these days capsule toys like this will cost at least 400-500yen each.

My Gacha Luck

My Gacha Luck Summary

The odds were a lot better than most campaigns since there were only four options but considering we didn’t even get a chance the first time around I had to knock off a star since it did sour the experience a bit. When it came it came to part 2 I was just happy to get one at all. I pulled Suramichi the Slime companion in the game with a Yoshinoya logo on his compass. All things considered getting Dragon Quest Walk’s mascot felt like one of the better pulls. Though personally I wanted the donburi Slime most I can’t complain getting the mascot on all he collaboration promotions!

Shoutout to the fan that managed to complete their collection and go the extra mile of creating themed boxes to decorate with too. Look forward to some upcoming blogs where I showcase some fun and inexpensive ways to repurpose some of your fan merch!
