The Pikapika Box 2027 lottery start date has officially been announced! Fans looking to try their luck should act quickly as they only have a week to enter.
The Pikapika Box, first released in 2021, is a special Pokémon lucky bag that is a Pokémon Center Online exclusive deal held by lottery every year. Its name is of course derived from the mascot character Pikachu and also the Japanese onomatopoeia which is to sparkle or shine to express that the box’s contents are an exciting surprise. The contents of the box are all official Pokémon merchandise from the Pokémon Center many of which are themed from the merchandise released the previous year and including one exclusive random item only available in the Pikapika Box for that year.
Pikapika Box 2027
This year’s Pikapika Box comes with a new exclusive random item in the form of a special Pichu, Pikachu, or Raichu plushie popping out of the box design wearing a 2027 decoration. They’re all so cute it would be great to collect them all but the odds are getting harder to win the box every year as more people enter the lottery.
Our Pikapika Box Lottery History
We’ve been applying for the annual Pikapika Box lottery as a family since they first began selling them in 2021. Our results have been a bit of a roller coaster so here is a breakdown of how our luck has faired each year. Between myself, my partner, and occasionally family members helping out, we’ve managed to win a few times but not every year has been successful.

Looking back, we’ve actually been fairly lucky overall. We managed to get our hands on several Pikapika Boxes over the years, although there have definitely been some disappointing years as well. The 2024 and 2026 lotteries were particularly rough since neither of us won. When you’ve been entering every year, seeing both applications rejected can be a little heartbreaking, especially after getting excited imagining what plushies and other exclusive goodies might be inside. On the other hand, part of the fun of the Pikapika Box is the mystery and unpredictability. Some years we’re celebrating a win and other years we’re watching everyone’s unboxing posts online while hoping for better luck next time.
Pikapika Box 2021
This was the year of the very first Pikapika Box and bother my partner and his brother won the lottery to purchase them. The exclusive item was one of three plushies tied to themed blankets featuring Pikachu, Yamper, and Scorbunny. We also loved how sturdy and cute the box design itself was too. In fact we keep our boxes every year and use them for storage and even moving. They all still hold up to this day.
What we got in our Pikapika Box which was loaded with plushies from different merch lineups and other goodies. Overall we estimated the total value to be approximately 23,895 yen in total for our box. We take the time to look up and calculate the sticker price of each item on the Pokémon Center and add a rough value to the exclusive item to reach total value estimate every year we win a box.
Compared to what my partner’s brother got inside of his Pikapika Box which was also brimming with plushies.
This was my favorite item from the box and I still use it today. It’s one of the best Pokémon themed tissue box covers in my opinion especially because it’s designed like a Pokémon Center. While getting a bunch of cute plushies is great I love when we get more daily life themed items in the boxes.
Pikapika Box 2022
This was the first year I won the Pikapika Box.
The exclusive items were pillows featuring the starter Pokémon for the latest game Pokémon Legends Arceus. I personally wanted Cyndaquil the most and…
I lucked out and that was the one I got! While the overall size of the contents of the box were a bit lackluster compared to the first year there were still a lot of cool items inside. I was really happy to get the silly Yamper scarf since I had not thought of buying it myself when it was released at the Pokémon Center. It was fun getting so many little blind box items too since it added more layers of surprises. We estimated the total value of the Pikapika Box 2022 to be around 20,253 so a bit less than the previous year but still a great value.
Pikapika Box 2023
This year it was my partner who won the box and our third win three years in a row which was extra lucky since this was the year a new mainline game was released Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
The exclusive items for this year’s box was one of the three new starter Pokémon Sprigatito, Fuecoco, or Quaxly in sleepy poses. I wanted to get my favorite Fuecoco.
Once again luck was really on our side and we got the Fuecoco sleeping plushie. It was quite big just like the last two Pikapika Box exclusive items. This year was the smallest amount of merch in our box so far and not too shockingly it was also the lowest value at an estimated 17,465 yen. While it was still a good value and featured some items we had wanted when we compared to previous years it did feel a bit lacking overall.
Pikapika Box 2025
Since we didn’t win a Pikapika Box in 2024 we were very excited when we won for the following year.
The exclusive items this year were just one of two possibilities of either a sleeping Pikachu or Pawmi pillow.
After a year of not having a Pikapika Box we were honestly just excited to get another and weren’t too concerned about what might be inside. Color us surprised more than ever when we pulled out plushie after plushie and even more items than before. We did some research and found that on top of the exclusive item everyone also got a full set of the Paldea region starter Pokémon and other plushies from the generation including either Pawmi, Pawmo, or Pawmot. The estimated value came out to a whopping 34,405 yen the most so far in our Pikapika Box collecting. In hindsight it was a great one to end on since we weren’t so lucky to get one in 2026.
Is the Pikapika Box Worth it?
So, the real question on people’s minds is probably: Do we think the Pikapika Box is worth the price?
Here is a quick roundup of the price of the Pikapika Box each year and the estimated value of our boxes or what we found from others posting the years we didn’t get one.

This year will be the first year the price increases to 5,500 yen however the last year we won the box the calculated value was roughly 34,000 yen so almost eight times the original 4,400yen price. We also found a few estimates of the value of last year’s Pikapika Box at around 31,000 yen up to 36,000 yen. Considering each year the value is at least triple the price of the box in terms of that alone it’s worth it. When you take the time to compare the contents to the price and even the exclusive items and box design itself it’s more than worth it in terms of number crunching.
The real question is will you find value in all the items in the box itself? I can say every year while the Pokémon inside may not always match up to our favorites we felt the balance between the price, value, and contents as been more than worth it for us as big fans of the series. For more casual fans this may just equate to extra random stuff you don’t need so it may be better to use that 5,500 yen at the store to get exactly what you want instead.
We have also greatly enjoyed gifting items we weren’t as interested in to friends and family. You’d be surprised who in your circles is a fan of a certain Pokémon or items that you aren’t. Now that we have a little one it’s great fun to also hide away the contents to give them throughout the year as little presents or switch out so she never gets bored of them too.
