The Experience

The decorations at the flagship store were really cute. They had wrapping on the doors and inside along with giant character standees near the registers.

The whole second floor seating area was decorated as well. No matter where you sat you were able to enjoy the decorations as if you were at a normal collaboration cafe. They really took the extra effort to immerse fans in the collaboration atmosphere.
The official account even got cosplayers to visit the Ikebukuro location and video the whole themed area. If you want a full view of it be sure to check it out!

We ordered the ZenZero Double Bacon Burger, Masato’s Recommendation: Strawberry Azuki Sundae, and the BBQ spare ribs flavored French fry set along with a chicken fillet sandwich and nuggets for our little one.

The burger and fries were pretty standard fare for the Wendy’s First Kitchen menu. The flavoring of the fries was good but I felt there just weren’t too many to go around for an M size despite how big the packaging was. I’m not sure it would have felt filling even if we had ordered the L size but maybe we’ll try again sometime to find out.

The star of our order was definitely the sundae! It was particularly hot the day we went and it was the perfect way to finish off the meal. While it was a modest mix of flavors the different levels of sweetness from the strawberries and the azuki blended perfectly and the size was well worth the price. I would absolutely love to order it again while it’s still available. It was a great sweet treat to beat the summer heat.

Unfortunately the one thing we couldn’t beat was the high demand for the limited edition merchandise only available at flagship stores. Everything but the peeling can badges and aurora cards was sold out. On the one hand we were visiting a few weeks into the collaboration so it was to be expected some things would sell out. On the other hand there’s still a whole month left for the event so I couldn’t help feeling bad for the more hardcore fans that might miss out because they can’t visit one until September. Such is the nature of collaboration events and limited edition merch. This time we decided to skip on buying extra merch since we already got quite a few nice things with our order already.
My Gacha Luck

While the official collaboration merch clearly sold out like hot potatoes already at the Ikebukuro location the menu items were still going strong. I hope more ZZZ fans can still enjoy the event as it’s going on for a whole extra month. If you’re in the area of a flagship store I highly recommend checking it out while you can!
