TL;DR: New Shin Megami Tensei rubber coasters are now appearing at Daiso stores nationwide. Each blind-pack coaster costs 220 yen features one of five demon designs and includes fan favorites such as Jack Frost, Black Frost, Pyro Jack, and King Frost. They’re cute and affordable collectibles that are perfect for demon fans.

Imagine our surprise when we popped into Daiso and found a whole new series of Shin Megami Tensei series merchandise dropped! I actually remembered seeing a post about it a month or so ago but it completely caught me off guard finding them in the wild. We of course had to grab a few to try our gacha luck and what better item to get than something useful like rubber coasters. What better time of year to try to get our hands on a Jack Frost or other demon friends too!

The Merch Lineup

There were actually two new items that dropped as this new lineup though one is themed toward the entire Shin Megami Tensei series while the other is based on Soul Hackers 2.

While they weren’t in stock at the Daiso we went to visit this is the series of random Soul Hackers 2 themed Jack Frost figures. They were designed in a way to resemble shaved ice so they’re called Shaved Ice Frosts and the colors represent those different fun flavors. There are six in total and they come in the flavors of Jack Frost, Hawaii Frost, Strawberry Frost, Milk Frost, Melon Frost, and Lemon Frost. At just 330 yen each they’re a great little blind box surprise to collect. See if you can collect them all or get your favorite flavor.

The Shin Megami Tensei series collection features collectible clear rubber coasters showcasing the iconic demons from the series including Jack Frost, Black Frost, Pyro Jack, and King Frost. They are also random so see if you can collect them all or your favorites if you come across them. At just 220 yen each they’re a very reasonable price for pretty unique collectibles. Personally I think they dropped at the best time since they can be used to decorate for the Halloween and winter holiday seasons too.

My Gacha Luck

My Gacha Luck Summary

While we did end up with doubles they were Jack Frost doubles so we couldn’t have been happier. Plus thanks to pulling a Pyro Jack too we have coasters for both holiday seasons just in time. The quality of the coasters is very nice for the reasonable 220 yen price tag. They’re a bit smaller than the coasters from the flat gashapon like the Animal Crossing one we got earlier this year but they still do the trick.

Outside of the SEGA Store it’s very rare to see Shin Megami Tensei or Soul Hackers 2 merchandise anywhere but used stores and usually for a pretty premium price. If you happen upon these or any of the gashapon machine capsule toys I highly recommend trying your luck there!

What ended up surprising us most of all wasn’t actually our gacha luck but how much our little one took to them! She spent over 40 minutes playing with the coasters and was so entertained we may just have to do it again. We definitely recommend to any fans and families with littles who like to take items out and put them back because that was the endless loop that entertained ours. I’d definitely say that alone was more than worth the value of these fun new collectibles that we’ll be using during our meal times too.
