We went to check out the Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ) Welcome to New Eridu collaboration at Sushiro! Unfortunately the main themed restaurant in Akihabara was a little too far for us to want to venture out to. In hindsight it was good thing we stayed close because this weekend ended up being a double typhoon whammy of a bad weather forecast.
The Menu

This was actually quite a small collab menu to what I’m used to even when it’s in a larger chain. The amount for each collab item is listed on the official website. Something to be aware of is Sushiro incorporates different pricing depending on the location of the restaurant so some locations charge more than others for each menu item. Basically this means if you visit one in the city you can expect the price to be more than if you’re in a less populated area. For reference the Ikebukuro location we went to charged the listed prices for each item on the official website.

Other characters featured in the promotions and stickers include Miyabi, Harumasa, Billy, Alice, Belle, and Wise.

The Experience

My partner setup a reservation for us on Friday and were able to nab a 12:30 spot for Saturday at a Sushiro in Ikebukuro without any issues. We arrived early to be safe because we had the little one with us and typhoon weather is always unpredictable. There was a lunch rush line starting up already but we only waited about 5 extra minutes before getting seated.
I highly recommend getting reservations anywhere in Japan around meal times or just in general when going to collaboration cafes. Most will only let you in if you have one and some open up as early as a month or two ahead of time. It looks like some of the more themed locations for this collab book up fast so be sure to reserve asap!
They sat us at a nice spot out of the way so it was easy to park our stroller at the table and grab a baby chair so our little one could join us for the whole meal. Since Sushiro is already a family friendly restaurant it’s nice to know that we can rely on them to have things like baby chairs, kid friendly bowls, and utensils ready.
The theming was pretty much non-existent at our location which I found a little surprising considering this was still a major spot in Ikebukuro. They do clearly state on the website that only two locations have full decorative theming but it was still a bit of a missed opportunity to not at least have a poster or standee I felt.
Here’s some posts of fans who visited the fully decorated locations!
Also quite a few other locations had an interactive game you could play. I do regret not making it over to the Akihabara location but navigating there with the little one can be pretty exhausting on the weekends so best to stick to where there’s less tourist traffic.

We ordered two drinks with mini figures, the green onion and tuna handroll, duck topped with onion and garlic sushi, and mille-crepe melba dessert from the collaboration menu. There were also new items on the menu I wanted to try like the tempura fried mozzarella which was pretty good. Had to snap a pic of Lycaon with the non-themed food to try to make the whole experience have that ZZZ flavor. For the little one we always like to get her the tamago (egg) sushi and fries but this time she tried pickled ginger and liked it for the first few bites. My husband also loves to eat a plateful each time it’s available since it’s free and a good palate cleanser.

The drinks were a decent size for Japan and didn’t have too much ice but at the end of the day they were just the usual fountain drinks. The green onion and tuna handroll sushi was very good but I admit I was confused on how to roll it together at first since I haven’t ordered a handroll from Sushiro before. The duck sushi had a spicy marker on it and I am very weak to spice but it didn’t taste spicy at all. It’s probably marked that way because of the dash of pepper and raw onions but I found it flavorful instead of spicy and enjoyed it.
There was a hiccup when it came to the merch with our menu items. We ordered everything but the dessert at the start of our visit and the drinks came out first. The staff brings over each item as the order arrives so they initially brought us two laser tickets which I didn’t realize was incorrect until the food showed up and they brought another laser ticket. We had to call a staff member over once we realized that they mistook the first set of laser tickets for the mini figures when it came to our drink order. Considering they are the most expensive item on the menu we definitely wanted to make sure that everything was correct. This was an honest mistake by staff because they have periods without collaborations and there are arguably a lot of moving parts for this one between each menu item type especially since the picks come on the actual plates. I’m sure it is a bit of a logistical nightmare if a lot of people are ordering collab menu items all at the same time so I can only imagine how it was going for them at lunch time on the first Saturday of the event. After this little bump everything continued running smoothly.
I will say initially the hiccup was also on our end because the way the drinks and mini figures were displayed on the phone order menu it seemed like the pulls were guaranteed. I knew deep down there was no way that was the case since they would have locked them to specific drinks which seemed weird but we were so excited we ordered without checking. So of course when our mini figures came they were indeed blind boxes.
When going to any collaboration restaurant whether it’s a pop-up in a regular restaurant or always functions as a collaboration location be sure to double check any merch that comes with your meal. Each collab and location functions differently and the details should be clearly written on the menu and official websites for reference. Sometimes items sell out or aren’t prepared in time too so be sure to pay attention to any new notices posted online or in the restaurant. It never hurts to check with the staff and if you believe there was a mistake.

The dessert was simple and a bit small but quite flavorful and I’m a sucker for mille-crepes so I was happy to see a different version on the menu than I’m used to at sushi places. Lycaon joined me with his tea and brought Eous along too. My picture came out blurrier than I wanted and hiding the tea because the little one was demanding a bite of the dessert. She happily chowed down on it with me so it was certainly approved by her. All in all it was a nice little sushi lunch outing. Although Sushiro isn’t my personal favorite revolving sushi chain it’s always solid whenever we eat out there.
My Gacha Luck

The gacha luck was both on my side and not at the same time. I was aiming to get Seth, Lighter, and Harumasa merch but I was happy to settle for anything with Phaethon or any Bangboo. I ended up getting an Officer Cui pick, Seth sticker, and Lighter laser ticket. As for the mini figures that had the better odds of all the merch well… I did not get anyone I wanted which is tragic considering I would have been happy with 3 of the 5. The designs are all adorable with each character sitting on their sushi plates with different toppings. Considering they were the most expensive gachas of the whole visit I did not fair well but that’s just how the cookie crumbles. Of course I can’t help wonder what would have happened if I got them at the beginning of the meal like planned but oh well. Just have to let the pity carry over to the next gacha experience.
