About the Sunshine City Guide

Sunshine City is the largest mall in Ikebukuro and feels almost like an indoor city with everything it has to offer. Besides shops, restaurants, and cafes the complex also has its own aquarium, planetarium, hotel, and much more. Sunshine City is a sprawling complex divided into several connected buildings including ALPA, World Import Mart, and Sunshine 60. We want to help you explore all there is to offer here not just as a guided overview but from the perspective of locals who have visited numerous times over the years (sometimes every weekend).

What kind of information will you find here? The shortcuts locals take to get to and from the mall and other key locations, what times are best to visit, and other tips and tricks to make your visit easier whether you live in Japan or are coming for the first time. We hope this comprehensive guide will help level up your Ikebukuro travel experience.

If our readers find his new series helpful we would love t work on introducing more must-see spots around Ikebukuro in the future. Keep checking back and let us know what you’d like to see to improve your otaku or family excursions in Tokyo!
