I checked out the Konami booth at Tokyo Game Show 2026. Admittedly I was just aiming to visit this booth because I wanted to support anything they’re still doing to promote the Genso Suikoden series. Last year I was so happy to see a whole corner of the game’s history with the release of Suikoden I & II HD Remaster Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars.

This year they had more than just Genso Suikoden history on display as it turned out to be the anniversary of the Konami code and much more!

The middle of the booth was dedicated to walking through Konami’s past and future of titles celebrating anniversaries as well as leading out to brand new ones that will soon be added to their catalogue.

The biggest highlight to start with was of course the fact that the legendary Konami code is celebrating 40 years.

Castlevania celebrated its 40th anniversary along with the release of the new game Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse which took up the right side of the booth.

They had the new anniversary artwork on display along with some of the original art and game development notes. While I haven’t gotten to play too much of the series myself I have always admired the gorgeous detail that goes into its artwork and planning.

Another anniversary of note is for the Pawapuro Success game series that is celebrating 30 years. Baseball game fans especially in Japan will recognize the series immediately.

The last classic gaming series celebrating a bit anniversary is Ganbare Goemon that has been around for 40 years like Castlevania and the Konami code.

There was even an extra campaign to promote the celebrations and get some cute flake stickers. I admittedly completely spaced this part because it happened to be right next to the Suikoden section and I was busy with juggling other campaigns and photos. It’s tough being a solo blogger at such a massive and exciting event.

While certainly not as exciting as all of these classic anniversaries I was happy to see two walls dedicated to the history of Suikoden into the newest addition of Suikoden Star Leap.

Finally the exhibit shifted into the future featuring Rev. NOiR and Rhapsody in Scarlet displays including cosplayers.

When my walkthrough was over there was live music being performed and a full lineup of more to be showcased at the booth throughout the day.

I have really admired how the past few years Konami has been doing a steady balance of showcasing the new while celebrating their history and hope to see much more in the future.
Be sure to check out more of my TGS booth coverage in part 2 of my event reports.
